Car Hikers Safety and Code of Conduct
1. Driver Requirements:
- All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and current vehicle insurance.
- Vehicles must be in safe, roadworthy condition for long-distance driving.
2. Safe and Responsible Driving:
- This is a spirited driving experience—not a race.
- Obey all traffic laws and posted speed limits.
- Maintain a safe following distance and avoid aggressive driving.
- Zero tolerance for alcohol or drug use while driving.
- Follow the instructions of event leaders at all times.
3. Group Etiquette:
- Respect the group pace—this is a collective experience, not a competition.
- Be considerate of local communities when passing through small towns.
- Communicate clearly using the provided walkie-talkie.
4. Personal and Vehicle Preparedness:
- Perform a quick vehicle check (tires, fluids, brakes) before the drive.
- Bring emergency supplies: first aid kit, phone charger, basic tools.
5. Acknowledgment of Risk:
- Participation is at your own risk.
- Car Hikers and event organizers are not liable for accidents or injuries.
